Ham License Testing

The Ventura Amateur Radio Club is again offering ham license testing. Test date is September 30, 2023 at 8:30am at The Dudley House, 197 N. Ashwood Ave, Ventura 93003. If you are interested in getting or upgrading your license, please email testing@vcarc.club with your contact information and which test you want to take to secure your spot. Be sure to include a phone number in case we need to call you.
About Us
Our call sign is K6MEP. We invite anyone who is interested in amateur radio to explore our website or attend one of our meetings.
We meet on the second Friday of every month, except in December. Our meetings are held at The Dudley House. Our meeting begins at 19:00. During the general meeting we discuss club activities and have a social and refreshment break before our presentation. After the meeting is adjourned, some members go to Toppers Pizza to socialize. Come by, join us, and share your ham radio interests.

Current Conditions
Radio communication is impacted by space weather. Changes in ionospheric density and structure will modify the path of HF radio transmission or even block the signal transmission completely. Users of the HF radio band (1 to 30 megahertz range) include ham radio operators, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Defense, and commercial airlines.

September 2023 Meeting
Highlights
- Saturday Sept 9th is the ARRL VHF Contest. Runs from 11am Sat until 7:59 pm Sunday.
- Sept 30th VE Session at Dudley House at 8:30am, K6MEP club picnic and the Bored Net Micro Field Day and Silent Key Remembrance 11am – 3 pm. Fire, meat and water supplied by the club. Bring a side dish. Bring your radio and radio problems.
- Website committee and Monday night net signup sheets available in the back.
- Volunteers needed, please sign up.
- Looking for membership committee chairperson. Please contact Dave or Denney if you can help.
- Micro Hamfest – Keith & Denney, August 31st of 2024 by hams for hams; not so much vendor oriented.
- Dave AI6VX, presented a lecture on “Power Supplies and Batteries”.
- Robert KM6RSS spoke about ACS/ARES/ECA Earthquake Secure Implementation.
- Club membership renewal is in October. You can renew via PayPal on the website.
- Club elections are in November. You need to be a member to vote; nominations wanted.
- Decemberfest Blackbear Diner December 8th.
- Website Committee Meeting every Sunday. Info was sent to the web developer for a quote.
- Mini Hamfest Stay in contact with Keith and Denney.
- New Meeting Venue Still Looking for a new place.
- Next club meeting is October 13th. Subject TBD.
